Smartlipo TriPlex

Smartlipo is liposuction with the addition of laser treatment. It is performed in office, sometimes with oral sedation and if desired, with twilight anesthesia.  The wavelength of the laser light specifically targets and melts the fat, producing a smoother result than traditional liposuction. The laser heat also produces a thermal effect on the skin which stimulates more skin tightening than traditional liposuction. Skin tightening occurs over a six month period following the liposuction procedure.

Smartlipo may be associated with a bit more pain in the postoperative period than traditional liposuction, and sometimes some numbness to the skin which lasts about two weeks. There is more risk of seroma (fluid buildup) which occasionally requires drainage (tapping) with a needle. The advantage of smartlipo is a smoother contour and more skin tightening than with traditional liposuction. This is helpful in any patient over thirty where the skin is not as elastic as in a younger individual.
