Brow lift, or forehead lift, is used to elevate sagging eyebrows, or to remove forehead wrinkles. The surgery involves skin retightening and muscle surgery to relax and retighten the forehead. The incisions can be placed in the hairline or just in front of the hairline, depending on the height of the patient’s forehead and balding in the frontal scalp area. Sometimes the incisions are placed just above the eyebrows or, in some cases, inside of a forehead crease. Depending on the extent of surgery involved, the procedure can be performed in office under local anesthesia or sometimes under general anesthesia. The procedure is often combined with other procedures, such as facelift or eyelid lift.
The patient may experience swelling in the first few days following the procedure, usually around the eyes. Topical ice and oral pain medication is usually required. Recovery time is seven to ten days.
