The Process

At the Mid Hudson Plastic Surgery Center we establish a relationship with each of our patients. It is a relationship based on mutual trust. Your first consultation is the beginning of a partnership which is always a two-way street. We encourage you to ask questions, express your concerns, listen and provide feedback to Dr. Hagerty and his staff.
Please be aware that this office has Surgical Facility Accreditation, as mandated by American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. For more information about this accreditation, Click here.

We have found that patients who actively participate in their treatment and care are the kinds of patients who will have good physical and emotional result.

Here are several elements, posed as questions, for you to examine, which will make you a more informed patient and help you to feel more comfortable in partnership with us.

Are you are open-minded, responsible, willing and realistic about results?
It is particularly important that you are knowledgeable about the treatment you will undergo, and are realistic about what it can and, even more importantly, cannot accomplish.

Are you "stuck" with information you have read or been told or are you eager to be informed, consider options and make choices?
We can provide you with free written information which is well-written and easy to understand.

Do you enjoy taking responsibility for and an active role in your own treatment?
It is always better to ask than to assume. No question you ask and no concern you may have will ever be taken lightly. But, if you don't ask, we can't respond.

Will you like being given options and taking responsibility for the choices you make?

Can you be duly diligent about keeping your end of the partnership when it comes to doing what you need to do to get the results you want?

Your participation in your consultation(s) and after-care are critical elements in achieving optimal results.

Do you have a responsible support person who can "be there for you" when needed?
We have found that a support system is a critical part of recovery. You owe it to yourself to have helpful, upbeat and encouraging people around you.

Let Us Walk You Through the Process
You have made your appointment with Dr. Hagerty at the Mid Hudson Plastic Surgery Center. We ask that you arrive a few minutes early to complete several forms which will give us some information about you. With these forms, we will open a patient chart for you. That chart will grow to include all the information that Dr. Hagerty will be referring to during your time with us.

Dr. Hagerty will meet with you for a consultation when you come for your first office visit. Once you and the doctor have discussed your needs, the next step for most cosmetic surgery and some reconstructive procedures is pre-operative photos. These will provide a baseline for you and the doctor by which to determine what results you may expect and to compare the actual results after your surgery. Depending on your particular needs, you may meet with the doctor one or more times after your initial consultation. You will be provided with pre-operative instructions and, where necessary, prescription(s). You will also be given post-operative instructions and, if necessary, prescription(s). Please keep in mind that there is no question that Dr. Hagerty or his staff will find "silly." Your questions are important to us and will be treated with the utmost respect.

After your surgery, one or more followup appointments will be scheduled. From the moment of your first appointment through your last, you will be in the very best, caring hands of Dr. Thomas A. Hagery and the Mid Hudson Plastic Surgery Center. We feel priviledged to have you as a patient.
