Laser Skin Resurfacing

The laser skin resurfacing procedure involves the use of an activated laser that is carefully passed back and forth over the skin until the surgeon reaches the level that will make the imperfection(s) less visible. Laser surgery, used on scars and wrinkles, is a relatively quick procedure, lasting anywhere from a few minutes to one and a half hours, depending on how large the area involved. With deep imperfections, Dr. Hagerty may recommend that the resurfacing be performed in two or more sessions.

Men and women alike with fair, healthy, non-oily skin make the best candidates for this procedure. Patients with olive skin, brown skin or black skin may be at increased risk for pigmentation changes no matter what type of resurfacing method is recommended. Dr. Hagerty will evaluate your skin characteristics and make recommendations based on your particular skin type..

Laser resurfacing can help enhance a patient's appearance and self-confidence, but will not completely remove all facial flaws or prevent aging.
