Implants may be used to improve contours of the face, rejuvenate an aging face, or reconstruct facial injuries. Implants may take the place of bone or soft tissue.

There are several types of surgical implants. Most are made of synthetic materials that attempt as closely as possible to reproduce the feel of natural body tissues. Implants come in many shapes and sizes for use in different parts of the face: chins, cheeks and cheekbones, and midface implants (to fill in grooves below the eye or along the jaw, to rebuild the nasal bridge, and to replace bone and soft tissue lost to injury or disease).
