Chin Surgery

Chin surgery, or "mentoplasty," is a way of balancing the profile by enlarging, reducing or reshaping the chin to result in better facial harmony and balance. To increase or augment an undersized chin, a synthetic, custom-fitting implant is inserted.

Liposuction can also be performed to remove excess fatty tissue, redefining the chin or neckline. For an overly prominent chin, the surgeon can sculpt to improve proportions, making them in better balance with the individual's face.

To reshape the chin, incisions are made inside the mouth and the facial bones are repositioned.

Incisions are made either inside the mouth where no scarring is visible, or are hidden under the chin where they are usually indistinguishable.
