Breasts have always held a significant role in the American culture. Historically, large breasts have always been associated with nurturing and have been considered to be a sign of femininity. Large breasted women are more often photographed and more often stared at. But there is another side to being large breasted. Heavy, pendulous breasts are often a source of discomfort which may include severe neck, shoulder and back pain. Women with large breasts may find it difficult t to participate in sports and/or other kinds of physical activities. For some women, excessively large breasts may be a cause for being embarrassed and self-consciousness. This holds particularly true for young women.
