hair transplantion

Neograft is a system for extracting and transplanting hair using a machine that extracts hair, usually from the back of the scalp, one follicle at a time. Multiple hair grafts are extracted using a tiny automated punch which collects the hair follicles. These collected follicles are then examined and separated under magnification for placement to another part of the scalp, usually the hairline or the crown.

The entire procedure is done under local anesthesia, usually with oral sedation.  The extraction process is performed in the morning. The implantation is done

in the afternoon. The procedure takes about six hours, including a lunch break.  After the procedure, the patient needs to sleep head up for two to three days.

A hat can be worn after two to three days. When showering, the patient should avoid direct contact of the shower with the new implanted follicles. Pain in the donor area may last one to two weeks. The grafted site is minimal pain, except some itching. The return to work time is five to seven days depending on the job. After ten to fourteen days, there are no restrictions and the patient can shower normally.

After undergoing follicular hair transplant, some patients worry that shedding the transplanted hairs is a sign of failed grafts. This is not the case! Shedding the transplanted hairs is a normal part of the grafting process. Two to three weeks after the transplantation, the transplanted hair grafts go into telogen phase, which is the shedding phase of normal hair growth. Under the skin, the hair grafts are intact. It takes several months for the hairs to regrow. Final results can be expected after 6-12 months. Products such as propecia or minoxidil may help to stimulate the regrowth process.
